The D Family | Dallas Family Photographer

I feel so lucky that I was able to do this session. This mom is a dear friend of mine from high school and she and her husband and little O live out of state. We were able to sneak the session in the evening before Thanksgiving. And I got to meet O for the first time! What an absolute sweetheart he is! Poor little guy was worn out from traveling the night before, but he didn't hardly cry at all. And he managed a few grins for us! Besides photographing my own kids, taking photos of friends and their kids is such a thrill for me. So, thanks guys! (Get ready for a lot of photos...)

I love this family and it was one of those sessions where I really have a hard time narrowing down the shots to feature on the blog. It shows in the number of photos in this post. I just loved the whole session. I have had the privilege of watching these two kiddos grow up and have taken their photos along the way, which is one of my most favorite things!

The last time I saw this family in front of my camera, it was for maternity photos and they were still a family of three. Now that those TWINS are here, they're a bit bigger family! Those kiddos couldn't have better or cuter for the session. I seriously could not keep from smiling when I was editing these...cuteness overload!

This guy is 5 years old now and mom wanted to document this milestone with a photo session. I would be hard pressed to find a more willing subject than this guy. He had loads of smiles and giggles and followed me around all over the place during the session. Such a trooper...and probably a heartbreaker one day judging by some of these looks!

This family session was so much fun. They are dear friends of ours, so of course I enjoyed spending an hour with them. What troopers they were in the heat, too. We worked some to get little B to smile, but he gave up quite a few of them. And Miss K was quite ready for her close up, which made my job easy. I love the colors they chose for their outfits and I loved how laid back they were at the session. Happy 10th anniversary to mom and dad too! So happy to get these guys in front of my camera again!

This baby girl was 3 weeks old when I took her photos. She was as sweet as can be and her parents are total naturals. It was so much fun to play with her. I LOVE this first shot of mom and baby looking at each other. Precious.

This fabulous tutu was a gift for little Caroline from a family member (an aunt, I think). Mom requested that we use it in a couple of shots and I love how it looks on her. Personal props are the best because they make your photos more personal. Love it.

These girls are dear to me because their mama is a good friend of mine. And because they are just sweet girls! They are really into tea parties right now so their mom and I thought it would be so much fun to commemorate that with a tea party photo shoot. They are the easiest kids to work with, truly. As you can see, they both have gorgeous smiles and they know how to do a tea party! This session was so much fun and I loved catching them at doing something they love. There are a lot of "favorites" here because I just could not narrow it down any more.

This is my brother and his fiance. I was thrilled to do their engagment photos and they made it so easy on me....they needed very little coaching. It was a cold morning (in the 30s), but they were rock stars and didn't complain one bit. Even when I dragged them all over the park to get the shots I wanted!

January is such a cold month for outdoor photos, but the C family doesn't look cold at all...they were awesome. This family is about to welcome TWO new babies into their world! Doesn't mom look amazing pregnant with twins!? And big brother is in for a big change, but I think he's going to be so excited to finally meet his new brother and sister. That's right...he'll have a baby brother and sister! Fun!

This is my entry for I Heart Faces this week. The theme is "Winter Wonderland." This is my first time to enter and if you follow my personal blog, you may remember that I posted this photo of my son, Ethan, this past week after our "big" snow down here in Texas. I don't get a lot of practice shooting in snow, so you better believe I was snapping away while we had it! In fact, Ethan's face sort of sums up how much he was thrilled with my photo-taking...all he wanted to do was play in the snow. Which he did...don't worry.

Summer is our family photographer and we've loved the photos she's taken of our family over the last couple of years. So naturally, I felt no pressure at all to take photos of her family! Ha! Her boys are gorgeous...beautiful thick hair and blue eyes. And let me just say, I love the blue and red colors they were wearing. I may have to steal that combo for our photo session next year!

Baby B was so precious and tiny. He only weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces the day I photographed him! He made quite the entrance at 5 weeks early but is doing so well. I was thrilled to meet him and to take his photos. Despite the fact that newborn sessions can take several hours and almost always require stain remover when I get home...I truly love them!

This family is so much fun. This time, we dodged some sprinklers and pulled out all the stops to get busy Miss M to give us a smile. My puppets had a blast playing with S's foam sword! And I am completely loving capturing sweet kids separately with their parents...precious. We packed a lot of shots into a short amount of time. Those kiddos deserved the playground reward they recieved at the end of the session!

Christmas Minis | Now Booking for Fall

I will begin doing sessions again starting on October 9, but I'm opening up my calendar now to start booking for fall. If you want a session sometime before Christmas, please contact me soon to get on the schedule because I'm limiting how many sessions I will do. I am booking regular sessions as always, but I am also offering three mini-session packages (see below). When you book, please let me know what kind of session you would like.

Christmas card orders will need to be placed by December 1st to make sure they arrive in time to be sent out. I hope to have some Christmas card templates up on the website soon. And print and gift orders need to be placed by December 11 to be sure they are here in time to be wrapped for Christmas! I'm so excited that fall is almost here and I am looking forward to start doing sessions again!

Maternity Leave Schedule

I will be taking August and September off from shooting since our new baby boy will arrive on August 9. I have already recieved requests for fall photo shoots and I will be doing a few limited sessions in October and early November for the Christmas season. Shelby | My Cousin

My cousin Shelby was in town recently and is about to start high school this fall! What a milestone! She (and her mom) wanted some pictures taken while we had the opportunity. This shoot felt slightly different than the ones I normally do of babies and toddlers. For one thing, there were no puppets, toys, silly songs or funny faces that I had to pull out to get Shelby to look at the camera and smile! It was a different kind of fun. But boy was it HOT. I'm surprised we didn't melt. Shelby...high school will be so much fun and I'm so excited for you to start that part of your life in a couple of months. Enjoy this sneak peek from your session!

Growing Up

I am not even Miss M's mother and I can't believe she is already one year old! She is the first baby that I have photographed from a newborn all the way to one year (and at 3, 6, and 9 months). She's definitely on the move and spunky, but so very sweet. These are just a few of my favorites from the very fun, very humid hour we spent at the park.

Precious Kids

These kiddos are precious just because they are...that's plain to see! But they are also precious to me because they are my friend's children. And big boy B just turned two! We had a great time roaming around the Arboretum and even had time to briefly see the Peter Rabbit houses and live animals while we were there. Thanks, Lindsay...for sharing your sweet ones with me!

The B families met me for some full group shots, individuals, and everything in between. The spunky cousins are so cute together and don't hesitate to have fun with each other. We thought we might be a little cold but after running around with the kiddos, we were plenty warm!

Playing Dress-Up

Miss K is only 3 months old but she's already playing dress-up. This session was so much fun because K's mom brought tons of clothes and accessories to play with. I loved it and we had the best time with it all. And Miss K was such a good little model.

J is One

Mom and grandma and one-year-old J met me at the park where J put us to work keeping track of him. He marched around and played with sticks. Such a sweet and active little guy. J's mom didn't plan to be in any of the photos, but the ones of the two of them are some of my favorites.
